As a Jets and Laine fan, I hope this works out for both teams. |

Thomas Townsend: PLD Traded, Lightning Defeated - Thomas Townsend
Surprisingly the most important element of that day wasn't '' the trade '' , but rather the win against Tampa, it was a huge statement win and the cbj looked dominant, hopefully Werenski and Jones can get going on the point production front. As for Texier , he might just be that second line center we need , he's sort of like Jenner (same style) at center but he seems to know what he's doing.
As for the trade, it was bottom of the ninth for Jarmo and he slammed this one out of the ballpark. In Laine we get that pure goal scorer not seen since Panarin, what is intriguing is Roslovic, he's a Torts type player, mix of speed with a scoring touch, can't wait to see what Torts will do with him, and he's right, the lines going forward once Nyquist returns will be a problem.
My projection
Laine-Domi-Atkinson
Jenner-Texier-Bjorkstrand
Foligno-Koivu-Roslovic
Foody-Nash-Grigorenko
Jones-Werenky
Gavrikov-Savard

Great posts Alex and Thomas.
Alex, I think the correct spelling is 'Foudy' but I'm not the grammar police.
What was so nice to see was that finally the CBJ had some structure to their game. Jones and Werenski were not always caught up ice when the puck turned over, and for once there were forwards handling the puck in the neutral zone. for a while in some games it seemed like we had five forwards on the ice with Jones and Werenski were the puck handlers carrying the puck in.
I just hope there is some labor peace for a while in the CBJ, just play hockey, no soap opera stuff in the locker room or on the ice, pay people a good wage, and hopefully come playoff time we look like a team that can play for the Cup. |

I hope so too. PLD is a good, on track to great, player IMO, and with the Jets he can just play instead of being under pressure as the #1C. Good luck. |

The solution to possible roster problem in late March, when Nyquist is set to return will be to decide which goalie will stay a Jacket and move the other along with another rostered player. It will be necessary to move one goalie at the deadline (or certainly before the Ex-draft on July 21) so CBJ does not give him away for free in the ex-draft. One would get a higher value at the TDL, but trading a very good goalie for a lesser one will be tricky because of the very good tandem CBJ has. But conversely, trading a goalie and a rostered player may get a very competitive player in return for the play-off push. Hopefully Laine is ready to re-sign by this time, too......which would make a roster move less panful. It will be exciting what materializes in this team near future, for sure. This is the secondary team I will be cheering for this season! You have an exciting near future! |

You guys got a real good player in Roslovic. I am curious to see how well he does under a different coach and system. Hopefully he gets played at center. |

I am going to disagree with islanjets...
Roslovic was not good enough to displace any of our top 4 wingers (at the time) -
Connor, Ehlers, Laine, Wheeler. He was not better than Scheifele at C and he is dreadful in the faceoff circle. So.....3rd line RW was where he belonged. He has great wheels and some decent skills, so it was probably a case of being on the wrong team at the wrong time. Not Maurice's fault.
Here is what you are getting with Laine - he is not big on conditioning and nutrition. His skating is not strong, poor acceleration, but once he gets going, he is ok. The Jets spent far too much time and effort trying to find him a center that he could mesh with. It wasn't Little, Copp, Hayes, Eakin, Roslovic. Stastny had some success. Good luck with him and enjoy the Laine - Tortorella circus (coming soon).

I agree that Raslovic is a great player. He will contend for top 6, and never really got a fair shot despite solid play every night.
Laine on the other hand...... He is hot and cold. When he isn't shooting, he is terrible. Hopefully he can find chemistry with Domi, but I have my doubts. Wheeler and Scheiffs were two amazing playmakers that are hard to come by. Laine can be a chemistry killer, but I hope he can get his act together for you boys, and ideally not be a re-signing problem. |

It's just a shame he didn't get a fair chance. Sure, trade Laine for Dubois, but Ras would have finally gotten a fair shake at 2RW. Oh well. I do think that the Jets made out with the best player, and that is usually who wins the trades.

Ironically, the Laine deal might have been good for Roslovic as a Jet....but oh well...

not all that bad, good hustle by Atkinson on the pk, had Texier hit the open net we might not be having this conversation. |

After watching the PLD interview with Maclean. Two observations. 1. Hes kind of a dweeb. 2. I have a feeling his parents wanted him playing elsewhere so he asked for a trade.... Just got the feeling that he really wasn't sure why he wanted to be traded. Very odd. Your better off without him. |
